Julia has been promoted to the role of Development Chemist. Having joined us in 2007 as a Quality Control Technician, Julia quickly established herself as a key member of the technical department and is now taking the opportunity to build on her scientific background in this new role.
JIt is with great sadness that we learnt of the death of John Dobson, who retired from Aquaspersions in early 2007. John still popped in to see us from time-to-time and will be greatly missed by his ex-colleagues and friends alike.
We welcome Alastair to the company in the role of Development Chemist. Alastair comes to us fresh from completing a degree in Chemistry at Huddersfield University and is looking forward to the challenges of developing new emulsion and dispersion products.
Dr Alan Bewsher
Alan Bewsher has been promoted to the role of General Manager. Alan joined Aquaspersions in 2003 as Product Manager and became Business Manager in 2007.
Aquaspersions wins Queens Award
It has recently been announced that Aquaspersions is a 2008 recipient of the Queens Award for Enterprise. This accolade, in the category Export, recognises our year-on-year export sales growth throughout the world. Our Managing Director, Mr Michael Richardson, said: 'This is such a big honour; it's a real recognition of the great commitment of all our staff whose efforts have helped us to sustain a continued increase in turnover and profits over a number of years'
Jonathan has recently joined us in the position of Sales Manager. He comes with a wealth of experience in the type polymer additives we currently use and are focussing our R&D on. Jonathan will be working with both established and prospective customers and throughout Europe, USA and South America. He will also be liaising closely with our technical department in Halifax to guide research efforts in the right directions.
Driver John retires
One of our longest serving employees, John Dobson, retires on the 2nd February 2007. John has driven the Aquaspersions lorry for 18 years and will be a familiar face to many of our UK customers. John has played an important part in the growth of Aquaspersions during his service and we’re all sad to see him go. We’d like to thank John for his many years of service and wish him well in the future.
A big Aquaspersions welcome too to John’s replacement, Steve Atkins. Steve has a big act to follow and we wish him well in the role.
Julia Semak and Paul Fulton
Due to our continued expansion, two new members of staff have recently joined us. Julia, a graduate in chemistry from the University of Gdansk, is our new QC technician and is responsible for the running of our Quality control procedures. Paul has joined us as works supervisor and is responsible for day-to-day running of our factory. We wish both a long and successful future at Aquaspersions.
The latest product in the 'Aqualink' family of products, Aqualink X, has now been released for customer evaluation. Aqualink X has been developed in response to customer requests for a water-based aliphatic isocyanate crosslinker which unblocks at approximately 120 C. It is suitable for use in metal, textile and plastic coating formulations and also has potential for use in PUD-based heat-activated adhesive coatings.
Faisal Ayub secondment to Malaysia.
It has been announced that Faisal, currently a Development Chemist in Halifax, will join Paul and his team at Aquaspersions Malaysia in the new year for a period of 3-5 months. Faisal's new role will be to implement new systems for product development, provide assistance to the factory and also to transfer UK products and technology to Malaysia. The UK Aquaspersions team wish him success in this challenging role and we're sure our Malaysian team cannot wait to welcome him!
Aqualink D released for customer evaluation
Our latest product in the Aqualink range is now available for customer evaluation. Aqualink D carries forward many of the characteristics of the popular Aqualink U, but is based on a TDI-free isocyanate which makes it especially useful in the formulation of latent 1K automotive adhesives. In addition, Aqualink D is non-yellowing, which makes it suitable for textile and coatings applications.
Phthalate-free plasticiser dispersions
Dispersions of three benzoate plasticisers have recently been developed by the Aquaspersions technical team in order to overcome the problems in adding solid plasticisers of this type into water-based formulas. These products also have the benefit of being Phthalate-free and therefore more environmentally friendly than their predecessors.
Aquaspersions launch their Aqualink range
of low activation temperature, water-based isocyanate crosslinkers, designed for use in the formulation of stable one component (1K) formulations for adhesive, coatings and textile applications.
Aqualink crosslinkers are compatible with a variety of water-based carboxyl-functional polymers, for example acrylics and polyurethanes. This exciting new technology has been developed specifically to allow the formulation of stable one component (1K) systems, which are storage stable until the cross-linking is heat activated by the end user at temperatures as low as 60°C.
Inherently suited to the adhesives, coatings and textile industries, it is anticipated that crosslinking technology of this type will facilitate the conversion of solvent borne formulations to water borne, without compromising performance. It is also beneficial that many two component (2K systems) can now easily be formulated as 1K with the use of Aqualink.
